The Domaine du Charlat in the Purple area of the Perigord, is conveniently located for visiting the many local Bastide towns ; Beaumont, Eymet, Villeréal, Castillonnès, Monpazier, Issigeac (5 mins) and Bergerac (20 mins).

The Dordogne is world famous for its gastronomic delights, and its many vineyards and castles. There are also cultural and sporting activities and events which are held locally throughout the holiday season.

A few examples :

• Castles : Château de Biron, Château des Milandes, Château de Bridoire, Château de Monbazillac. These are just a few which are to be found locally.

• Magnificent Abbeys : St Avit Senieur, Cadouin.

• Historial Heritage : Grotte de Lascaux, Les Eyzies, Grottes de Maxange, Gouffre (chasm) de Padirac and Proumeyssac.

• Gardens and Panoramic Viewing Points : The Gardens at Marqueyssac (enjoy the view while having lunch at their tearoom), Eyrignac and Limeuil are all well worth visiting. Also the Bamboo Gardens in Planbuisson. The view from the Cingle in Tremolat is quite exceptional, then carry on into the village for lunch at the Bistro de la Place.

• Sporting activities :

* At the property, there is an enclosed heated swimming pool and local bridle paths go past the proprety

* Nearby : Canoeing, horse riding, cycling, quad biking, climbing.

• For children :

* On the estate : private heated and secure swimming pool, swing, trampoline

* Nearby : Karting, tree climbing (Le Bois des Lutins), Préhistoric Park "Le Conquil" (History of dinosaurs and tree climbing) Gabarre boat trips on the Dordogne (Bergerac), escape game, treasure hunt in the castles, Equiloisirs (chivalry shows, mini farms, rides).

• For gourmets and wine lovers :

* Visit the vineyards (list on request), the Bergerac wine route, many good restaurants to discover (list on request), gourmet markets, ...
